1.7. Roles & Responsibilities
It essential that roles and responsibilities are resolved at the project bidding stages. Specific BIM roles now exist. Atkins has defined these roles and are listed as follows:
As a minimum a Project Interface Manager or Design Co-ordinator shall be appointed for every project. On BIM level 2 or large projects a BIM Manager needs to be appointed.
A Project BIM Strategy shall be put in place that identifies key project tasks, outputs and model configuration, this will help inform the roles that maybe required. The importance of this cannot be overstated we all traditionally focus on our 2D deliverables for projects, think of this as a logical extension of the process to understand what your digital deliverables are, that everyone understands what is expected of them and when.
