1.5. Changing Profiles - team dynamics
Digital engineering is changing the way we deliver projects. Commercial teams and Technical Task Teams need to re-examine how they select resources forming the design teams and what the roles and responsibilities will be.
In the old delivery process; the solution to any problem relating to programme is to add resource, since the Egyptians built the pyramids the key strategy for project management is to add more resource to get the job done quicker. This will NOT be true in the future.
The design teams of the future will be much smaller. The digital drive is already pulling the labour out of the problem. So task teams must be selected with some intelligence. Is the dynamics of the team right? Who is going to do the modelling work? What skillsets will you need in your team. Have the roles and responsibilities been set, is the team clear on their roles, have they been empowered and do they fully understand the outputs and the EIR Employers Information Requirements.
